The contract was revealed this January. Following a visit to Israel, the Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires announced that a tender for the construction of a regional water treatment plant in La Plata would be awared a consortium, of which Mekorot is a part.

Mekorot is guilty of not only cutting off water to Palestinian areas and communities, but also ensuring the expansion of settlements by connection both large settlements and new “outposts” to the water network.

Accordingly, the Palestinain Federation has stressed that, “Mekorot is complicit in war crimes because their actions contribute to the maintenance and construction of illegal settlements in the West Bank and violate Palestinian human rights by not allowing them the minimum access to water or the exploitation of their natural resourcesthe […] Province of Buenos Aires must say NO to companies involved in war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

#BDS: Israel ire as Argentina and Brazil recognise Palestine

Israel has reacted angrily to Argentina's recognition of a Palestinian state within 1967 borders.
Monday's move by Argentina comes days after a similar step by South American neighbour Brazil.
The Argentinian foreign ministry said recognition was in line with the Palestinians' right to build an independent state.
More than 100 states around the world recognise Palestine, their mission at the United Nations says.
"The time has come to recognise Palestine as a free and independent state," Foreign Minister Hector Timerman said, adding that Argentina was "frustrated" that peace talks had stalled.
Brazil recognised Palestine on Friday, and Uruguay said it would do the same next year. Costa Rica, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela have already done so.

#BDS: In Argentina workers’ movements, community radios take up BDS

November saw a flurry of BDS activities in Argentina, where workers from the recovered factories, along with the global umbrella organization for community radio, committed to active support of the 2005 Palestinian BDS call.

Workers in the recovered factories in Argentina pledged to support the BDS call. These workers are part of a larger movement in Argentina that began in 2000 during Argentina’s economic crisis. At that time, the first workers resisted eviction from their places of work, and with the bankruptcy and flight of the management, took upon themselves the duties of production, administration and marketing. Since 2001, 205 factories around Argentina have been reclaimed by the workers.

In a statement issued in support of the BDS call, representatives from eight of the recovered factories pledged to “ensure that our work sites, our businesses and factories, […] will be spaces free of Israeli apartheid. We resolve to ensure we do not have contracts and business between our recovered companies and Israeli companies, the State of Israel or companies that support the State of Israel.”
