#BDS: British orchestra suspends 4 over call to boycott Israel

"The London Philharmonic Orchestra has suspended four of its musicians for nine months after they called for a boycott of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra earlier this month, in what cultural commentator Norman Lebrecht called, in his blog, "the most severe public penalty inflicted on London orchestral musicians in memory."

Cellist Sue Sutherley and violinists Tom Eisner, Nancy Elan and Sarah Streatfeild were among the 21 signatories to a letter that was sent to BBC Proms concert series director Roger Wright and published in The Independent on August 30. The signatories, headed by the Irish composer Raymond Deane, called for the cancelation of the IPO's appearance at the popular festival, held at the Albert Hall on September 1. The four LPO members who were later suspended, and a few of the other signatories, indicated the ensembles to which they belonged next to their signatures."

#BDS: دعم للمناهضين للأوركسترا الإسرائيلية

أعرب المخرج البريطاني مايك لي وعدد من الفنانين البريطانيين عن استيائهم نتيجة إيقاف أوركسترا لندن أربعة من عازفيها عارضوا مشاركة الأوركسترا الإسرائيلية في مهرجان «بي بي سي» للموسيقى الكلاسيكية «برومز».

وكانت أوركسترا لندن قد برّرت توقيف عازفيها لتسعة أشهر باستخدام العازفين اسم الفرقة عند توقيعهم رسالة اعتراض على المشاركة الإسرائيلية في المهرجان المعروف باسم «برومز». وقال المدير التنفيذي للفرقة تيموثي ووكر إن العازفين «لم يكونوا ليعاقبوا لو أنهم وقعوا خطاب اعتراضهم كأفراد». والأربعة هم عازفو الكمان توم آيزنر ونانسي إيلان وسارة ستريتفيلد وعازفة التشيلو سو ساثرلي.

 كتب إليّ أحد القراء مطالباً إياي بالإعتذار من رامي مارسيل خليفة لأنه تبيّن أن حفل خليفة أقيم في قاعة ميهايل جورا "قاعة الرومانية راديو المجتمع" وأن أوركسترا الإحتلال عزفت في قاعة أخرى "القصر الكبير هول".   

أوَتمزح معي؟ وهل اختلاف القاعات يغيّر في الأمر شيء؟

الأمر بسيط جداً: رامي مارسيل خليفة وأوركسترا الإحتلال ضيفان في نفس المهرجان، وهذا كافٍ لاعتباره وجه من أوجه التطبيع والأجدى بخليفة أن يعتذر.

يبدو أن هذا زمن وجهات النظر:  العمالة وجهة نظر، الخيانة وجهة نظر، التطبيع وجهة نظر، وواجب المقاطعة وجهة نظر أيضاً

أوركسترا الإحتلال التي تمت مقاطعتها أكثر من ثلاث مرات أثناء حفل لها في لندن منذ ما يقارب الثلاثة أسابيع، تعود اليوم كي   تحيي حفلة موسيقية في رومانيا في محاولة منها، وكعادتها، لتبييض جرائم الإحتلال وإظهار إسرائيل بصورة فنية راقية. الملفت أن من يشارك أوركسترا  الإحتلال هذا الحفل - أو بشكل أدق - من يقوم بتسليم المسرح  لأوركسترا الإحتلال بعد انتهاءه من الأداء، فنان ، عربي لبناني إبن فنان عربي لبناني آخر (كان) معروفاً بإلتزامه بالقضية الفلسطينية، هما الفنانان العظيمان رامي ومارسيل خليفة

ما يحصل هنا هو تطبيع ثقافي فني بحت. جلّ ما أعرفه هو أن من يشارك في حفل موسيقي  مع أوركسترا الإحتلال  باسرائيل إنما قد قام بالاعتراف بإسرائيل، وخرق مبدأ المقاطعة، ومارس التطبيع الثقافي والفني معه

#BDS: Anti-Israel protest disrupts #UK #BB Cconcert series

"The BBC says protesters have disrupted a performance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in one of Britain's most venerable concert series. Pro-Palestinian group The Palestine Solidarity Campaign had called for the BBC to cancel the concert and urged people to boycott 

The orchestra was due to perform at London's Royal Albert Hall on Thursday as part of BBC Proms, an annual summer concert series dating back to 1941. Shouting and booing erupted just as conductor Zubin Mehta was about to lead the orchestra in Bruch's violin concerto. The BBC Proms apologized on Twitter, saying that the concert's live radio broadcast was taken off the air "as a result of sustained audience disturbance."

"We, Palestinian cultural institutions, including the leading musical organizations, urge the BBC to cancel the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) concert at this year's Proms [1], due to IPO's complicity in whitewashing Israel's persistent violations of international law and human rights. The IPO is scheduled to perform in September in London.  Should the BBC fail to cancel this ill-conceived concert, we urge all people of conscience in the UK and especially those who stand for justice, freedom, equality and human rights to effectively protest this event, including by promoting a wide boycott of it, and by tapping into the impressive creative energies British supporters of Palestinian rights have always shown."
