#BDS: Each Israeli action creates support for BDS – a strategy, not a goal

(...)

The 2005 Palestinian civil society call for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) marked the first anniversary of the ICJ opinion, becoming another strand in Palestinian nonviolent resistance that included the popular struggle against Israel’s wall in the Palestinian villages directly impacted by its route.
International solidarity activists flocked to both the popular struggle and BDS. However, while it takes time and money to travel to Palestine, anyone can join a boycott or divestment campaign, or lobby for state sanctions wherever they live. This is a strength of the global BDS campaign. Others include the fact that the campaign is Palestinian-led, and those whose rights have been violated are now gradually imposing their agenda on a sterile, U.S.-Israeli led process.

#BDS: BOYCOTT GLORIA JEAN'S COFFEE

Courtesy of Daniel Ibn Zayd:

"When Gloria Jeans Coffee opened up in Hamra, Beirut, they gave away free coffee to the delight of my students. I half-jokingly asked one student if she was sure that Gloria Jeans had no ties to Israel. I did an Internet search, and found this link, where the owner of Gloria Jeans is speaking to the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce. Check out their logo—after Palestine, Australia! Note too that the press release on this page only lists a "business partner". Shame of shames, that would be Nabi Saleh, from Iran. Disturbingly, it is also the name of a Palestinian town resisting occupation."

This latest development comes amid Jewish community groups applauding the Victorian government for asking the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to investigate if the recent anti-Israel Max Brenner protests are in breach of Australian competition law.
A spokesperson for Victoria Police confirmed the four arrested appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon, and The AJN understands at least two face further hearings."
